Lincoln Dinner Invocation

We are truly blessed either by birth or by immigration to live in America.

Please bow your heads and join me in prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father.

We thank you for giving our Founding Fathers the courage to risk their lives and their fortunes for a vision. It was the vision "that all men are created equal" and "that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights." That they enshrined in our Constitution the rights of freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, the right to keep and bear arms, and the right to life, liberty and property.

We thank you for the steadfast leadership and compassion that Abraham Lincoln showed when he reaffirmed those founding principles. American is a nation "conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal."

We thank you for Lincoln's ability not just to hold America together through the deadliest war in in our nation’s history but that he could do it while saying "with Malice toward none, with charity for all.” Having said that, he asked for God’s help binding up the nation's wounds.

Over half a century of rule by Democrat politicians has failed California’s most vulnerable citizens. But father, let us remember to treat everyone, even Democrat politicians, as our brothers and sisters. Protect us as we fight against their policies. Strengthen us as we chart a course to restore liberty, limited government, free market capitalism, prosperity, public safety, our education system and everyone’s faith in the American Dream.

We pray for all of this in your holy name.
